There are lots of cool activities that can be done in South Zone such as an exciting cable car ride at Sugarloaf Mountain or hang gliding at the Pedra Bonita. This area also boasts of White Rock Forest which is the world’s biggest urban forest.
Sports fanatics and dancers would surely enjoy their stay in the North Zone of Rio de Janeiro because the famous Maracana Stadium can be found here as well as numerous samba schools including Mangueira and Unidos da Tijuca. Other known landmarks in this area are the Imperial Palace, Instituto Oswaldo Cruz, Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and State University of Rio de Janeiro. The more modernized area in Rio is the West Side which has several high rise flats and shopping centers. The Campo Grande which will host the 2016 Summer Olympics Games can also be found in this area.
